Just wanted to say thanks...
for the Call of the Wild race!

pic of Fender after race!

It was a great race. Neck-deep flooding, parts of LA I definitely don't know and full on off-roading through Griffith Park. The freakin mask were amazing! Great concept and you really lucked out with the rain. Thanks Ace!

You can also see some pics from the race...HERE!

Shut Up Legs!
If you like...let them know!

I’m a huge Jens Voigt fan and love to watch him ride a bike. His affable personality off the bike and his eagerness to inflict pain on himself and others is infectious. He is a hard man who doesn’t take himself too seriously and I think that’s what we all love about him.

I laughed so hard at his “Shut Up Legs” comment and I thought it would make a great t-shirt. I’m trying to get in touch with Jens just to make sure he’s cool with it (I don’t want any lawsuits coming from him or Saxobank).

King Kong Klassic!
In Portland, Oregon!

The idea is simple and will be fun. Early season training ride with a competitive edge to it. We are not calling it a race but it should be fast and friendly. It will leave from the downtown Stumptown cafe at 9 am sharp. If you want to enjoy your coffee, get there early. The ride will be out towards north plains and be rolling with some gravel sections.

We have a 37km loop but we will be riding as a group out to the ride and then back from the ride to Portland. This will not be the racey part of the ride. Bring food to eat and stories to tell. Meet new people and make fun of your old friends.

The course is marked and there will be maps that will be handed out at Stumptown but the route should be familiar to most riders. There might be a moto bike escort in classic belgie style.

Below are some things we encourage and discourage for this ride!

Encouraged:

-team spirit
-helmet
-fenders, courtesy flaps and booties
-Belgian beers
-frame pumps and patch kits
-echelons in the crosswinds
-28mm wide tires
-vintage jerseys
-a desire to ride on gravel
-good sportsmanship
-helping a teammate out with a wheel change
-appreciation for the fantastic roads we get to ride on
-being responsible for your own actions
-plucky attacks when you shouldn't
-riding to, racing and riding back from all 3 banana belts
-sense of fun
-riding long miles all winter

Discouraged:

-racing like it is the world championships even though it is feburary
-race bikes that might break if you crash
-racers who take themselves too seriously
-broken bikes without a tool kit or patch kit
-silk tubs (unless you are Roger De Vlaeminck)
-people who don't like good espresso
-dh pads
-Belgian cocaine (but fast cars are OK)
-listening to phish or grateful dead to get pumped for a ride
-not being able to jump shit on your road bike
-not starting at a cafe with good coffee
-not riding all winter

thirtysix thirtytwo: Forward Movement

I'm currently working on a project that I thought might be of interest to the fixed gear community. It's a bit of a mash up of cycling activism, bike touring, and people having fun on bikes. One of our main projects we have underway is a fixed gear tour from Vancouver to Mexico, roughly 2300 kms. We'll be doing it fully loaded, no support, and we're hoping to use this tour as a pilot for other projects in the future. The website has a bunch of photos from the tour I did last year, as well as info on other projects.

thirtysix thirtytwo: Forward Movement

This Thirtysix Thirtytwo project is far more vast than just riding our bikes from Vancouver to mexico, but I figured some might find it interesting/ridiculous that were riding the trip on our fixed gear bikes. We will be updating the website constantly with more info and more projects in relation to this tour. Right now we are just trying to spread the word, get the website out there, and hopefully make some contacts with people who would like to show us what cycling culture is all about in various cities along the coast. We're also on the hunt for sponsors who would be interested in supporting a project like this, because in reality we're just broke bicycle mechanics with big dreams! Anyways, take a browse around, read what we're all about and what we plan to do, and if your into what were doing, spread the word!
