OAKLEY’s support of bike culture comes full circle as the eyewear company releases a special magazine issue titled “REBELS”. Within the pages are a visit to the USA headquarters as well as interviews with some of Japan’s top OAKLEY sponsored athletes and personalities including SINO and Takamatsu Kenzi. Rounding out the issue is a look into upcoming and new OAKLEY releases. Rapha Tourmalet Jersey!
I think this may be one of my all time favorites!

The Rapha Tourmalet Jersey is a special edition cycling jersey to commemorate the centenary of one of the key moments in cycling history. On 21st July 1910, Stage 10 of the Tour travelled over the Col du Tourmalet, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees, for the first time.

It was Alphonse Steines, assistant to Tour founder Henri Desgrange, who first suggested the Tour take on the Giant of the Pyrenees, a climb which features on this year's Etape du Tour. In January 1910, Steines had undertaken a reconnaissance of the mountain. When snow stopped his car four kilometres short of the summit, he continued on foot, eventually being rescued by a search party at three in the morning. The telegram Steines sent to Desgrange contained the now immortal line that the Tourmalet was, in his opinion, "Perfectly Acceptable".

The Rapha Tourmalet Jersey is made from a merino-rich fabric which is high-wicking and comfortable. Cut longer at the front so that it can be paired with jeans or three-quarter shorts, the jersey has a side-panel construction for a clean fit which also ensures that even heavily loaded pockets stay centred when cycling. The pocket layout includes three main cargo pockets, an internal pump sleeve and a zipped valuables pocket. The right rear pocket is embroidered with the lions of the Hautes-Pyrénées, the department that is home to the Col du Tourmalet.

The chest of the jersey is embroidered with a Tourmalet logo, beneath, in French, is Alphonse Steines's famous assessment of the mountain: 'Parfaitement Passable.' The left arm is stitched with a replica of Steines's signature, while the right carries an image of the statue that now sits at the Tourmalet's summit in honour of those early pioneers. A ribbed collar and cuffs evoke classic cycling jerseys of the past, while a retro zip completes the vintage feel.
